An idyllic spot, a challenging and interesting barn conversion coupled with long,hot Summer days, who could ask for more?
The first job was to bring in a digger and clear the ground banked up at the side and back in order to create room for the extension and a patio area. That done it was pretty much a matter of completely gutting the inside and starting from scratch. We needed to move & enlarge the existing ground floor

window opening to give access to the new extension and, at the same time,

created a gallery opening for the first floor bedroom, accessed via new stairs.
Then it was on with new build and stone cladding, the object being to try to give the impression that this was not a new structure but an existing home that had been
sympathetically renovated. We did give a nod to modern innovation with the

inclusion of two Velux windows accessed from the minstrel gallery but the extra light gained was well worth it.
