With windows and doors fitted, facia, bargeboards and rainwater goods in place it was time to think about an exterior finish, the beauty of timber frame is that the choice is limited only by the imagination and what is allowed by the planners.

In this case we decided on a simple painted sand and cement render finish. Stainless steel expanded metal lathe was fixed to the battens and two coats of render, both with a waterproofing additive were applied. Two coats of good quality exterior paint later and a seamless match had been achieved with the existing building.

Time to dismantle the scaffolding and begin the framework for the decking, the rear garden rises quite steeply on this property and so it is an enormous benefit to be able to step straight out onto the garden and enjoy the Koi pond.

All complete and looking good, time to start on the internal work.
